Al Gallo, CHAE


AlAl is currently the owner and operator of Health Club at Travis Place, a downtown office health club and Suite Time Fitness, LLC a fitness operations management company that operates the Hess Tower Fitness Club. Al was previously employed by Redstone Companies for over 15 years and was the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for Redstone Hospitality which includes The Houstonian Hotel, The Houstonian Club and Trellis Spa in Houston, Texas.

Additionally, other properties Al was involved with have included The Lakeway Resort and San Saba Spa in Austin, Texas, The Redstone Golf Club, BlackHorse Golf Club, ShadowHawk Golf Club, The Houstonian Golf Club & Spa, Vanderbilt Legends Course and partner/owner of The Houstonian Lite Fitness Clubs. His responsibilities include oversight of accounting and finance for the 289 room Houstonian hotel, 6,000 member fitness club, 17,000 square foot spa, and several golf country clubs. Additionally, Al developed long term operating proformas and helped execute the $40,000,000 renovation program at the main Houstonian campus, including hotel, club and spa renovations. Al was involved with the successful refinance loan placement of $85,000,000 in 2012. Along with Redstone, Al has personally invested in The Health Club at Travis Place, a corporate type fitness club that boasts 25,000 square feet and is located at 1010 Travis downtown Houston.

Prior to the Houstonian Al was the General Manager of Del Lago Golf Resort and Conference Center on Lake Conroe, in Texas.

Previously Al worked with The Woodlands Resort, Country Club and Spa for over nine years in the capacity of Director of Financial Services of the 389 room hotel, 34 room Exxon Conference Center and 60,000 square feet of meeting space for the Shell Oil Learning Center. Included were 81 holes of golf and host of the annual Shell Houston Open at The Tournament Players Course in The Woodlands. Al spent a short duration as The Woodlands Country Club General Manager and also finished his career at The Woodlands as General Manager of the Resort prior to moving on to Del Lago. During his tenure with The Woodlands, Al also consulted for The Galveston Country Club, Texas Golf Hall of Fame, and The Woodlands Athletic Center.

As Controller for The San Luis Resort and Condominium project, Al was involved in preparing the condo. home owner’s assoc. operating and capital budgets. Al met with the association owner’s monthly to review budgets and operations of the condos. Al worked with an outside CPA firm to insure funds were sufficient to cover building operations current and future and advised to what dues rates would be needed to cover the expenses.

Al started his own company called Gallo’s New York Style Pizzeria and opened its first restaurant in 1988 in Plano, Texas. Al soon discovered the carryout and delivery business to be a lot harder than the hotel business.

Other companies Al worked for as Controller included Rosewood hotels (St. Regis in Houston) , Mariner Hotel Corp.(LBJ Hilton in Dallas) and California Innkeepers.

Al began his career at age 16 as a front desk agent at the Conrad N. Hilton hotel in Chicago, now the Chicago Hilton & Towers.

Al’s earlier positions included dishwasher, pot cleaner, food prep, bellman, banquet server, and waiter.
